What of the Prophecies About Jesus Yet to be Fulfilled?

Prophecies

We began this journey of faith along the road to Emmaus on March 19, 2019 as this series began with Jesus explaining how all of prophecies spoken of Him were true.  These two disciples who listened to Him that day had their eyes opened to the full truth.  The birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ was foretold with exacting detail.  There were no surprises that God had not already known and foretold.  Christ came for this purpose so that men, women, and children might have a means of salvation.  Life was brought to those spiritually dead because of sin—that is all who would believe and accept this gift of salvation.  Over the course of this study, the truth of Jesus Christ has been verified.  Just as all these prophecies came true, so will those prophecies of the future be fulfilled as well.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  Do not be carried [b]about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, (Hebrews 13:8-9 NKJV).  God has given us such magnificent grace. He never changes and always fulfills His promises as He does His prophecies.  Joshua speaking of Him wrote:  Not one word of all the good promises that the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass (Joshua 21:44).  Yet, despite this, the people failed to follow God, turned to worship idols instead since the idols allowed them to indulge in self-exaltation and lascivious living, fulfilling their sinful desires of the flesh.  Still, Jesus came to pay the penalty for their sins and ours as promised. The old testament prophecies regarding the Messiah came true as promised.

Prophecies Yet to be Fulfilled:

There is yet to come an ending of this the church age.  It was God’s perfect plan that His gift of salvation be extended to all.  So often He commanded Israel to set the example and to teach of Him to all the world.  Yet, they failed in this commission.  In part, the book of Jonah is this story being told to the nation of Israel.  This I detailed in my book by the same name, Jonah- The Pursuing Love and Grace of God.  Although, God told them by the Prophets that Jesus would come to live, die on a cross, be buried and be resurrected; they did not recognize Him as their Lord.  Pride and the desire for self-Glory stood in their way.  Yet, as the prophecies foretell, God’s Mercy and Grace have not ended for Israel.   Jesus will yet return both in judgement and mercy.

For all those who continue to reject, there will be judgement. While at the same time, for those who accept His offer of salvation, humbly repent and by faith believe in Jesus Christ-mercy will pour forth from His fountain of living water.  He will cleanse them.  Furthermore, He will cast their sins as far as the east is from the west.  As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us (Psalm 103:12) For (God Said) I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more (Hebrews 8:12).

Jesus Christ will yet return.  He will rapture His church.  The tribulation will come to earth as the prophecies foretold of.  Then, Jesus Christ will come to restore Israel as promised during the Millennial reign of Christ.

The Prophecies Will Stand

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it (Isaiah 55:11).  For all the promises of God in Him (Jesus Christ) are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us (2 Corinthians 1:20).

God fulfilled all that He all the prophecies of Jesus birth, life, death and resurrection bringing salvation to all those who had believed and all those who would believe.  Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow (I Peter 1:10-11).

Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. (Ephesians 1:9-12).

Concluding Thoughts:

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord. And was confirmed unto us by them that heard him (Hebrews 2:3).  God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets.  Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things. (And) by whom also He made the worlds. Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high (Hebrews 1:1-3).

Knowing all this, let us like David pray, Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O Lord, according to thy lovingkindness. Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever. Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word (Psalm 119:59-61)
