Repent! Look to Jesus Lifted High and be Saved

Repent! Look to Jesus Lifted High and be Saved

Finally, after all the trials they had faced, the children of Israel bowed before the Lord repentant for their sin.  So, Moses went before the Lord.  God instructed him to make a bronze image of a snake and lift it high upon a pole.  Anyone bitten by the poisonous snake could look up and be saved.  On the cross, it was Jesus lifted high that we might be saved from the serpent’s curse, if only we repent and look to Jesus.  Indeed, this was a picture of salvation by grace through faith given to the Israelites.  How many hardships did they endure before bowing before the throne of God?  And how many hardships must you or I endure before we fall before Him? He who died on a cross that I might be clothed in a righteousness not my own.  And by such to have eternal life with Him.

First, we must catch a glimpse of His majesty.  Only then do we begin to realize the absolute depravity of our own hearts.  For the children of Israel, God kept revealing Himself.  He revealed the Glory of His Righteousness, Justice and Judgement as well as His Mercy, Love and Grace.  His patience shone forth as He led this rebellious crowd.  Why were they so blind?  Truly, why are we so blind?

Repent

ISAIAH 6: I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up. His train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar. He laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips. Thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Repentance must come first.

Look To Jesus High and Lifted up

Jesus speaking to Nicodemus said.

As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. (John 3: 14-19)

Be Saved

When we repent and look to Jesus lifted high on the cross for our sins and transgressions then we have the right to be saved by grace through faith alone.  We cannot gain salvation through our own works.  Nor can we gain victory through our own efforts once saved.  We must repent of our own pride, look to Jesus lifted high upon His throne and be saved.  He has won the victory already; we just fail too often to see that.

Revelation 7:9

I looked, and here was [an enormous crowd that no one could count, made up of persons from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb dressed in long white robes, and with palm branches in their hands. 10 They were shouting out in a loud voice,

“Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

11 And all the angels stood[p] there in a circle around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they threw themselves down with their faces to the ground before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying,

“Amen! Praise and glory,
and wisdom and thanksgiving,
and honor and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!”

The Serpent Destroyed

Then I saw an angel descending from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the abyss and a huge chain. He seized the dragon—the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan—and tied him up for a thousand years. The angel then threw him into the abyss and locked and sealed it so that he could not deceive the nations until the one thousand years were finished. (After these things he must be released for a brief period of time.) (Revelation 20:1-3 NET)

Now when the thousand years are finished, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive[p] the nations at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to bring them together for the battle. They are as numerous as the grains of sand in the sea.  They  went up  on the broad plain of the earth and encircled the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but[x] fire came down from heaven and devoured them completely 10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are[ab] too, and they will be tormented there day and night forever and ever.  (Revelation 20: 7-10 NET).

Concluding Thoughts

There is no other means of salvation.  Only accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord can you be saved.  He was lifted high on a cross; but now is lifted high upon His throne, exalted high above heaven and earth as He was throughout eternity past.  Repent! Look to Jesus lifted high upon His Throne.  And be saved!

For all who know Him, the victory is already won.
