How to Not Grow Weary by Faith

weary

This journey of life at times causes our hearts to grow weary; particularly during those times when God asks us to wait.  Trials and sorrows come, while at times it seems our prayers go unanswered.  We may face financial distress, illness, family crisis, or difficulties at work.  We pray, tithe, read our Bible and wait.  Sometimes, instead of seeing God’s clear direction or plan in the midst of our distress; we grow weary and wonder if He will answer.  Yet, even during those periods of life when we cannot see His hand working, He is.  He is there, and we can trust that His plan is for our good.  During those long periods when it seems too hard, these seven steps can help you to not grow weary and by faith to know steadfast joy even during the hard times.

Paul wrote to the Galatians concerning this and we must look at the verses preceding as well and ask ourselves, “Do we really believe God’s promise?”

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:7-9).

Weary, because

Often, as we look around us; it may seem that those who do not believe in Christ are going through life with less trials and even more blessings than we the faithful.  Do not be deceived.

“Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.  For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.  Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.  Delight thyself in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.  Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday  Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.” (Psalm 37:1-7)

Do not be deceived by Satan’s lies.  Remember that God Is (the omniscient, omnipotent ruler of the Universe and that He always rewards those who diligently seek Him. Our faith shivers within us and we grow weary, when we forget this.  Therefore, do not faint into depression; because, that is where Satan wants you.  God’s plan is bigger than this moment and He knows precisely the good He is bringing to you; even, amid the trials.  This moment you are passing through is but a blink of time compared to eternity with Him.

Seven Steps to Not Grow Weary
  1. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and the finisher of your faith.

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witness, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.  For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds” (Hebrews 12:1-3).

  1. Never forget His Promise.

“For I know the thoughts I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11).

  1. Never forget His Purpose.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.  Moreover, whom he did predestinate, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified” (Romans 8:28-30). His purpose is to work it all together, everything that He allows in our life to transform us into the likeness of Christ.

  1. Never forget your identity.

In Christ Jesus, you are God’s Blessed, Chosen, Redeemed, Beloved Child who has been Declared a Saint, Mighty Warrior, Servant by Choice of Almighty God, and Gifted for Service.  (Ephesians 1-3).

  1. Never forget your destiny.

“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality…Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:52-53,58).

  1. Never forget your source of Strength is God, Himself.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).

  1. Trust God’s Heart, when You don’t see His Hand.
