Back on May 12, 2017; I wrote How to Know Your Position IN Christ by Grace and began to write multiple blogs over the summer outlining many of our possessions and our position found in Christ Jesus. Later, on August 11, I pointed out our dilemma often with our own identity crisis in How to Overcome Our Greatest Identity Crisis. Again, having detailed our Identity in Jesus Christ, I want to remind you of the importance of unequivocally knowing your identity in Jesus.
Our position (identity) in Jesus remains eternally guaranteed by God Himself, with the covenant written and signed by the blood of Christ Jesus and sworn to by God upon His Word (Hebrews 6:13-20). Yet, if we do not write them on our hearts, we forget. As the hustle and bustle of this world tugs at our hearts, it would seem amnesia occurs; because, we forget or never even count as ours the innumerable possessions we hold in Christ Jesus.
OUR IDENTITY AS OUTLINED IN EPHESIANS
In Christ, I am God’s chosen, beloved, redeemed, blessed child-heir of His Kingdom. Beyond that I am His declared saints, gracious servant of Perfect love; born into perfect righteousness as God’s new creation in Christ Jesus. Furthermore, I am equipped as a Mighty Warrior and enlightened with His wisdom by the work of the Holy Spirit living within me. And if that were not enough, I am also that gifted with a spiritual motivational gift to drive my missionary endeavors as I join hands United with those God places in my path bearing other gifts. Thus, He has provided me with community as well.
IS KNOWLEDGE ENOUGH? Does my Heart really Know?
Knowing all this, should mean I stand strong and firm in every situation of life! However, just knowing this in my head; doesn’t mean I believe it in my heart. That head/heart disconnect is what leads to fears, doubt, anxiety and even depression within the life of the Christian. Our life depends upon our knowing unequivocally our position in Christ Jesus; bought and sealed by the blood of Christ Himself.
So, how do I transform that head knowledge into undeniable truth written upon my heart? Well, let me propose there are 7 steps to this process
- Accept Jesus Christ as Your Lord and Savior
- Prayerfully Study God’s Word
- Declare it as So
- Realize Every Trial is a lesson in Truth
- Keep a Faith Journal
- Seek Godly Counselors When Doubt Arises
- Rest Assured, God Will Write it on Your Heart
So, let me begin with steps 1 and 2 today and over the course of the next week; we will explore the remaining steps.
ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR
If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, that is the first step. Everything, including your eternity; hinges on that truth.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16)
If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water (John 7:37-38).
Where ever you are, come right now! Bow your head and ask Jesus to come into your heart, confessing that you are a sinner in need of His Saving Grace; believing that He is the God’s Son who died and rose again to pay the price for your sin. Then just say, “Thank You, Lord Jesus”
PRAYERFULLY STUDY GOD’S WORD
God provided us with the truth of Himself in His Word. They are His Love letters to us.
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires (Hebrews 4:12 NLT).
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:14-16).
With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee (Psalm 119:10-11).
If you really want to know God, then study His Word. It is alive and powerful to transform your heart to trust Him more.
