As we come to the end of Lord’s prayer, we are reminded to see everything through the eyes of God. “For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the Glory forever. Amen.” (Matthew 6:13). Whatever happens, we are assured of this. His Kingdom will reign forever! This earth will one day be destroyed; yet, He will create a new heaven and a new earth. Our life on this earth is but a fleeting moment in comparison to eternity. Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (I John 3:1-2).
Our hope is not in this world. The foundation of our hope is in Him. He reigns sovereign over all. His Kingdom, His power, and His Glory are certain. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. (I Corinthians 15:19). Yet, this is our assurance, our hope is in Him. He will accomplish all that He has planned. I need not fret or worry; because, He is with me. He is our hope both now and throughout eternity. But we must not lose focus, we must through faith see everything through the Eyes of God. We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Seeing Everything Through the Eyes of God
We may only see His Glory dimly, as though through a glass; but, one day we will fully understand. Do you believe that? No matter what may come into our life, “we know that all things work together for good to them that love God” (Romans 8:28). Furthermore, He is Sovereign over all nations, all elections, and all the affairs of mankind. Even though we may not fully understand the why-for of everything, we are called to see it all as part of His ultimate plan. Certainly, He is not the author of evil. People, with their reprobate hearts, choose evil. However, God’s Righteous, Just Hand is for the moment stayed by His love. He is awaiting the salvation of one more soul. One day, He will reign forth Justice and Righteousness. Evil doers who refuse to repent will reap what they desired-an eternity apart from Him.
That does not mean that He is not in control now. Our lens must be adapted to seeing everything through the eyes of God. That can only be accomplished by spending time in His Word and in prayer. Yet, once we begin to realize that His is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory forever. Then, we can shout hallelujah, praise God, regardless of the circumstances we find ourselves in. His plan for me is that I might know Him; for He knows that the only true source of hope, joy, and peace in this world is found in a relationship with Him. When I begin to see the world through the eyes of God, I find joy amid the sorrows, victory amid the trials, and peace amid the chaos of this world. I trust in Him, His kingdom, His power and His Glory forever.
Concluding thought
Only then can I pray, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). When we begin through faith to see everything through the eyes of God, we stand firm filled with love, hope, and joy.
