How to Find Hope, Beginning Life in Jesus Christ ⋆ Effie Darlene Barba

“The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God” (Mark 1:1). Jesus Christ is the beginning of hope and life. Without Him, we have no purpose and no true being or meaning in life. Man’s nothingness before a perfectly righteous, Holy God is transformed into a new beginning of hope and life; because of God’s willing servant spoken of in Isaiah. He came to earth to pay the price for all our sins. Thus, His Beloved Son, willingly came as a servant to reconcile all who would accept His gift of salvation to Himself. A new beginning can be yours in Him, a beginning of hope, eternal life, and joy.

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18).

Jesus Christ is the way to your new beginning. In Him your heart transforms from existing to being, from nothingness to life eternal. Furthermore, His Ministry also heralded in the beginning of the church age, in which the gospel message reached out to all who would believe. Mark, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, recorded the life of Christ for the gentile nations. He wrote primarily addressing it to those in Rome, as pointed out in the previous post. This was a new beginning for the church. God was not forsaking His covenant to the Jewish nation; rather, He was fulfilling it and expanding it.

THE BEGINNING OF THE FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY

John, the Baptist came as the messenger promised in the prophecies of Isaiah and Malachi. His role was to announce the arrival of the Messiah.

“Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, ‘Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together … For the grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand forever” (Isaiah 40:1-5, 8)

Jesus Christ is God. His greatest glory of salvation revealed to a world in desperate need. His grace, mercy, and love reaching forth to all the world. Note at the beginning of this passage His words of comfort, for this is the message of hope a new beginning for you and for me. “Iniquity is pardoned”; because, God’s redemption is full and complete. Where it says “for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins” does not mean double punishment-it means double grace. It refers to Isaiah 61:7, “the double everlasting joy shall be unto them;” because of the finished work of Jesus Christ.

A NEW BEGINNING

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the good news we need to shout from the mountaintops. “I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness” Isaiah 61:10. Can you say that? Billy Graham in an interview with Fox News was asked “if he could change one thing in his life, what would it be.?” He said, “I would spend more time in meditation and prayer, telling the Lord how much I love Him and adore Him.”[1]

Life begins the day you come to Jesus Christ, repenting of your sins, accepting Him as your Lord and Savior. Won’t you come to Him? “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God” is the new beginning your heart seeks. He is the pathway to find meaning, hope, and joy. He is waiting with open arms, bidding you to come.
