In Due Time, Evil Will Be Destroyed

In Due Time, Evil

As Habakkuk waited upon his watchtower, longing for God’s response; he knew that seeing all the evil within his nation and the even greater evil invading his nation, only God could help him to understand the chaos surrounding his own heart.  We cry for all those injured last night in Las Vegas.  My own heart wrenching in pain, praying that each soul who perished in the awful event might have known the Savior.  Aching from the thought that any should perish without having heard and accepted the gospel message, I like Habakkuk; must stand and wait upon the watchtower to hear God’s call.  He promises in verses 2,3, and 14 of Habakkuk 2, that in due time, evil will be destroyed.

IN DUE TIME:

For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2: 3,4,14

In due time, Christ came to this earth, born of a virgin to die upon a cruel cross. He paid the penalty for mankind’s sin; then, on the third day He rose from the grave, conquering sin and death with one great and mighty blow for all who will accept His gift of salvation by believing on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

There will come another day when Christ will return.  That day is described by Isaiah the prophet,

And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; . . . the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. (Isaiah 25: 7-9)

EVIL WILL BE DESTROYED

Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 1 Corinthians 15: 24-26

When God answered Habakkuk, He told him of a nearer prophecy that one day Babylon would be overthrown and Judah would again be freed from captivity; at least, the remnant of believers.  Although, God allowed evil forces to take them captive; because of their idolatry.  He would restore the faithful to their land in due time.

However, God also spoke of a future time in which Christ would come to pay the price that mankind might be saved.  Furthermore He told of a day yet to come as described by Paul in

I Corinthians 15: 52-58

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

CONCLUDING THOUGHTS

As we look around us and see so much evil within our nation and around the world, where is our hope?  Our hope is in God and His promises!  Just as He restored the nation in Old Testament, He will complete His promises today.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.  Jeremiah 29: 11-13

So, my question for you is: “Are you seeking Him today?  If so, you will find Him; because, He will make Himself known to you! He promised just that and He always keeps His promises.”
