God Makes My Way Perfect.  How?

God will perfect me

We live in such a time of uncertainty.  Financially, politically, and even personally the chaos seems overwhelming.  There amid all the chaos that is our life, there is a voice that cries out to us.  Amongst all the sounds of sorrows, fears, and pains, there is a voice calling out to us.  “God is my strength and power… He makes my way perfect (2 Samuel 22:33).

Not just ok or better but perfect.

This was a song King David sung after having been in places of great trials, running for his life, waiting on God’s promise to him.  You see God had pronounced and declared him to be next King of the nation of Israel.  Yet, King Saul was in pursuit of David, desiring to kill him.  With all the power and force of the nation’s armies, how could David survive?  Furthermore, how was it that David could say, “God makes my way perfect.”  Or how did he later write in Psalms 138:8 “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me.”

Does that mean everything will be perfectly easy in my life? Absolutely not, but it does mean, “all things work together for good, to those who love God to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28).

All things?  Even the trials, pains, and sufferings?  Why?  Because those all things are used by His Hand of Mercy and thereby God Makes my way perfect as He is continuing His work of perfecting me, transforming me into the image of Jesus Christ.

WHERE DOES IT BEGIN?

It begins with believing that God IS sovereign Lord.  That Jesus Christ, co-equal with God in creation, is His only begotten son who came to this earth, taking on human flesh that He might die upon the cross to pay the price for your sins.  On that cross He bore the full penalty of God’s wrath against sin.  Only then, could God be just in forgiving sin while remaining perfectly righteous Himself.  By accepting His atonement through faith, we are saved.

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
The God of my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation,
My stronghold and my refuge”

At the point of salvation, the Holy Spirit enters.  It is then He whose task it is to perfect us.  We are cloaked with the robes of righteousness at the point of salvation—therefore, “there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).    Just as Romans 8 begins with, there is no condemnation, it ends with there is nothing that can separate you from the love of Jesus Christ, for all those who know Him as Savior and Lord.

in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:37-39.

Everything in between is the Holy Spirit, working to perfect us, step by step, transforming us into the image of Jesus.

How Does God Make My Way Perfect?

  Romans 8: 26:-31  Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession [g]for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

Because God Makes My Way Perfect

Therefore, I like David may sing

29 “For You are my lamp, O Lord;
The Lord shall enlighten my darkness.
30 For by You I can run against a troop;
By my God I can leap over a wall.
31 As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

32 “For who is God, except the Lord?
And who is a rock, except our God?
33 [h]God is my strength and power,
And He makes [i]my way perfect.
34 He makes [j]my feet like the feet of deer,
And sets me on my high places.
35 He teaches my hands [k]to make war,
So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

36 “You have also given me the shield of Your salvation;
Your gentleness has made me great.
37 You enlarged my path under me;
So my feet did not slip.

If God is for us Who Can Stand Against Us?

2 Samuel 22:

“When the waves of death surrounded me,
The floods of ungodliness [b]made me afraid.
The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me;
The snares of death confronted me.
In my distress I called upon the Lord,
And cried out to my God;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry entered His ears.

“Then the earth shook and trembled;
The foundations of [c]heaven quaked and were shaken,
Because He was angry.
Smoke went up from His nostrils,
And devouring fire from His mouth;
Coals were kindled by it.
10 He bowed the heavens also, and came down
With darkness under His feet.
11 He rode upon a cherub, and flew;
And He [d]was seen upon the wings of the wind.
12 He made darkness canopies around Him,
Dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.
13 From the brightness before Him
Coals of fire were kindled.

14 “The Lord thundered from heaven,
And the Most High uttered His voice.
15 He sent out arrows and scattered them;
Lightning bolts, and He vanquished them.
16 Then the channels of the sea were seen,
The foundations of the world were uncovered,
At the rebuke of the Lord,
At the blast of the breath of His nostrils.

God’s wrath remains against all those who actively choose not to believe in Him.  Each of us has a choice.  After all He does not force His love upon us and if you desire to have nothing to do with Him or remain Lord of your life, He lets you throughout all of eternity.  That means you are separated from God’s goodness, righteousness, kindness, joy, peace, and love throughout eternity—living in the world of your own making which is hell.

IN THE END

 As God makes my way perfect, one day I will stand before the throne of Jesus Christ and I will look like Him.  My heart will perfectly reflect His.  I will love as He loves.  My joy will overflow as does His.  And I will reflect His Glory, as a mirror shining forth, with nothing left of the scars and garbage that is mine.

2 Samuel 22

26 “With the merciful You will show Yourself merciful;
With a blameless man You will show Yourself blameless;
27 With the pure You will show Yourself pure;
And with the devious You will show Yourself shrewd.
28 You will save the humble[g] people;
But Your eyes are on the haughty, that You may bring them down.

Therefore Lord God, my strength and power,
who makes my way perfect.

Continue the work you are performing in me, whatever it takes, keep me closer to your bosom.  Help me to always see your hand amid the trials of this world. Help me always remember.

Psalm 138:8 The Lord will perfect that which concerns me.”

Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; (and) Do not forsake the works of Your hands.
