Sunday Poetry–Thy Glory Drawing Nigh

One glimpse of His Glory draws us to seek God.  Then, one touch of His Grace transforms our heart.  At least it should; yet, God has left all around us glimpses of His Magnificent Glory and touches of His Grace.  Meanwhile, we turn and seek other things; instead, of following Him.  One Choice and we could be filled with all His Joy, Love, Peace and be brought into the light of His Glory; however, alas like fools we walk away. In Him, we possess all that we could ever hope for or need. So, why don’t we seek Him.

1 Chronicles 29:

Thine, O Lord is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.

12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.

I wrote this poem a few years ago; but, wanted to share it with you today.

THY GLORY DRAWING NIGH

The clouds that dance across the sky

The shades of green beneath that lie

Sunlight’s rays stretch from on high

Display Thy Glory drawing nigh

The strength and hope as friends draw near

To speak a word of kindness, cheer

To give a smile or dry a tear

Display Thy love—that Thou art here

A toddling baby’s laughter, squeal

The wonder, awe of all that’s real

A child like glee we’re bid to feel

Displays Thy joy-so great, surreal

Oh, Lord; Thy Grace, Thy Love Divine

Thou art a treasure-precious fine

To think you chose to make me thine

How could a man thy gift decline!

Dear Lord, I ask, “Help me Display

They love, Thy Grace, Thy joy today.

For someone lost or gone astray

A guiding light that shines the way.”

Disavowing pride, my heart of stone

To humbly bow before Thy Throne

And let your light through me be shone

That Thy Dear Son might then be known

Unto a world so filled with pain

Where sin has left such crimson stain

And Lies of man, a joy doth feign

Where evil hearts thy love constrain

If they could see thy true delight

Thy mercies new each dawning light

The Glorious beauty shining bright

Thy strength, thy sovereignty, thy might

The clouds that dance across the sky

The shades of green beneath that lie

Sunlight’s rays stretch from on high

Display Thy Glory drawing nigh

One Gracious Heart Gives Thanks to God and Man

With a gracious heart so overflowing with love and gratitude, Paul closes his letter to the church of Philippi with an emotion laden conclusion.  So grateful for their gift; while at the same time, understanding the sacrifice they had made.  He did not want them to feel obligated by his gratitude; yet, he wanted them to know how much he appreciated it.  They were the only church to send him support.  Remember, they had even sent one of their own to be with him and comfort him while he, imprisoned must have felt so alone.  Oh, yes; he reminds them that God strengthens him when abased and when plenteous; however, that did not diminish in his eyes their gracious gifts to him.  Furthermore, he prayed to the God for their reward for such an unselfish act of Grace toward him.

7 Steps That Guarantee a Perfect Heart of Peace

Imprisoned for his faith, previously beaten, stoned and left for dead; Paul the Apostle laid out the 7 Steps that guarantee anyone who follows them to have a heart filled with the peace of God. His future uncertain, plagued by a “thorn in the flesh”, isolated from those whom he loved; how could he speak of peace.  Paul’s world: continuously filled with conflict, trials, and disappointments by the world’s standards.  So, how could he teach others the steps to knowing peace? He knew how difficult this journey can be; yet, his heart overflowed with peace. Because he had lived through many trials and still had peace, he was the perfect one to teach the steps to these young Christians.  We find these 7 steps outlined in Philippians 4. Let’s begin by reading these verses and then break them down one by one.

How to Develop a Ministry Based on Unconditional Love

Saturday, I was rushing around, trying to finish the videos of the grandchildren’s visit, while, beating myself up for having not accomplished all my to do list.  At the same time, I was preparing dinner to take to the guys at the In2Action ministry.  In2Action is a ministry to assist those who have lost their way, been imprisoned, and trying to get a fresh start.  Their motto is: “Crime Prevention through Personal Redemption.”  The men are given opportunities to restart their life through growing in their relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  Once or twice a month I prepare food, go over and just spend time with them. Most of the time, I wonder who is more blessed by this ministry, me or them.

So, Saturday; while rushing around the pie wasn’t coming out right, the macaroni was sticking, and the videos were each slowly recording. Finally, I rushed out of the house; having baked the pie crust solo to crumble under cherry pie filling and ice cream.  The macaroni and cheese which I made from a rue for the very first time; finally came out smooth.  A counter top grill pan and brat burgers to cook there with all the trimmings thrown into the car as I rushed out.  As soon as I arrived, they came out to unload my car. 5 Virtues Gained by Really Knowing The Love of God

Really knowing the love of God as my Heavenly Father should produce demonstrable virtues in my life. Since God demonstrated His love for me with such compassion and grace, why do I sometimes fear love? Why is it hard to constantly keep loving and providing for an elderly mother who has always been judgmental, trapped in her own world of negativism? I find it so easy to love my grand babies. Beyond that it is easy for me to show love and compassion to my patients at work. It is even easy for me to even do random acts of kindness to strangers.

It is a matter of the heart, you see; and, that is where mine needs to grow just a little bit bigger. The only way for that to happen is to keep my eyes focused on my heavenly Father and remind myself that in Christ, God is my Daddy. The one I can fall before unashamed with my tears, my failures, and my fears. I can lay all else aside and trust His love for me to make it all better. He will and He will fill my heart with so much of His love that my heart will grow too. That is what He has promised. Continue reading 5 Virtues Gained by Really Knowing The Love of God
