Is Jesus the Only Way To Reach God’s Love?

faith to stand after failure

Therefore, we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him. Hebrews 2:1-2

A harsh warning was sounded here! A warning that if we neglect the gospel message proclaimed by the Lord Jesus Christ, we have no other means of escape from the Just Judgment and damnation. All too often, to proclaim love and Grace; we fail to tell people the full truth. We want to sound “politically correct.” Yes, God is love. Were it not for His Love He would not have provided a means of salvation. Why should He? Mankind (male and female) throughout the corridors of history since Adam and Eve; choose their perceived feelings, desires, and self-exalting behaviors over demonstrating their love for God (their creator) by obedience to His commands. Yet, as we read through the Old Testament; we see a Gracious, loving God warn humanity of their folly. We see God plead with them to repent. Alas they march on stiff-necked, rebellious with disregard for the very one who gave them life and desired to give them His Love, His Joy and to shower them with His Glory. The angels warned them! The prophets warned them! Still, they did not heed; ultimately, God would be forced to enact His hand of judgment upon the people. There was a remnant who did see Him as Gloriously Worthy of All their praise and Honor. It was for them, He continued through history to Calvary’s Road.

The plan of redemption, had always been the same. Jesus Christ, who was the perfect echoing reflection of the Father; God himself in human flesh would come, endure the temptations as a man. Yet, Jesus Christ compelled by His Love of the Father resisted every temptation, remained sinless that He might die upon the cross and bare the weight of our sin. He provided the only means of salvation. There could be no other way that both Justice and Righteousness could be upheld, while providing a means of salvation for sinful, rebellious hearts. Without God’s Justice and Righteousness, God’s Glory would be tarnished. His Justice is every bit as much a part of His Glory as is His love and Grace are.

To understand the full depth of this gospel of Grace, we must remember that Jesus Christ is God. He is part of the trinity that is God. Three people in one. The simplest way to understand that is. God made us in His image. We are body, soul and spirit. God is body, soul and spirit. For Jesus Christ as the “body” to come to earth; in a sense, He was separated from His own soul and spirit. He spent hours in prayer to remain in their presence. That is, until our sins were laid upon Him. At that time God, the Father and God the Holy Spirit, because of their just, righteousness poured out all their wrath against evil and sin upon their own flesh, Jesus.  That is the moment that Jesus cried, “My God (Father), My God (Spirit) why hath you forsaken me?”

Because of His providing the payment for our sin,

Jesus saith.., I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

There is no other means of salvation but through faith in Jesus Christ. If we miss this, there is no other hope. If we water this down as society wishes so as not to offend, then we have offended already! Love demands we speak this truth with honesty and humility. There is nothing my hands can do to gain salvation or to be counted worthy. It is by Grace alone. The only thing is to acknowledge my own unworthiness, recognize that God is right and just in condemning me because of my sin; and then, accept the wondrous gift of salvation through His son. Have you done that?

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high Hebrews 1:1-3

God is calling, pleading with you to come, accept this gift of salvation. He has spoken to you through history. He has spoken to you through nature. He has sent prophets and angels to bid you to come be bathed in His love, share in His joy, and share by Grace in His Glory. He sent His Son. Won’t you come and bow before His throne. Ask Him to come into your heart today.
