Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king’s matter. Daniel 2:20-23
King Nebuchadnezzar was having nightmares that awakened him with a sense of terror; yet, he could not remember the details. All he remembered was the terror they left behind deep within the core of his being. He called all of the sorcerers, the astrologers, and his most educated of men. Then, he asked that not only they interpret his dream; but, first they must recall his dream for him. Their reply was, “No man can do that! They would interpret the dream, but they could not discover the dream of another”. So the King was furious and decreed that all the wise men were to be killed. When Daniel heard of this he went to seek audience with the King and asked that he be given time to do what the others had not. Having been granted a day, Daniel hurried home and called his prayer warriors to join him.
Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah joined together in prayer.
That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret Daniel 2:18
Note this, they asked that God’s mercy reveal this dream to Daniel. They did not demand or declare it as some right; rather, they cried out for mercy.
Four Important keys to Gaining God’s Wisdom:
1. I must always remember that every gift or word of wisdom God gives to me is His act of Mercy. Whatever my petition before a Holy, Righteous God; must be a request for Mercy.
2. We need Godly friends whom we can trust with our deepest, darkest secrets to be a part of our inner prayer circle
3. True Wisdom only comes from God as we seek His truth and His Wisdom
4. Never forget to praise God for the Answer and Give Him all Glory for the response.
GOD’S ANSWER TO PRAYER FOR WISDOM
Daniel did receive the vision of the dream as well as the interpretation. He then returned before the King of Babylon to reveal the dream and the interpretation. As he began to speak these were his words,
The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king; But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these; As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass. But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart. Daniel 2: 27-30
WHEN THERE SEEMS NO ANSWER-PRAY
Often in this world, life looms before us and it would seem there is no answer. Storms arise unexpectedly and we don’t know what to do. We have no answers for all the pain, the sorrow or the suffering within our own hearts. Even less do we have the answers for the suffering that others are facing. Our only hope is found in God. We need to gather a prayer circle to diligently pray, seeking God’s mercy, asking for His wisdom to guide our words, and praising Him for His answer.
Often in this life, I have had more questions than answers. Right now as a nation, we may have more questions than answers. But this I do Know!! My God is in Control and I will trust Him. I will ask Him for wisdom and mercy for me, my dear family and friends, for all my followers, and for my nation. Will you join me and be a part of that prayer circle?
