Arise From Your Tears To Know This Wondrous Truth!
In the last post we looked at Jesus appearing to Mary Magdalene outside the tomb before ascending to the Father. Instead of running home to be with the Father (which is what His heart longed for); he tarried for a moment to comfort Mary in her agony. Just think of the grand celebration as the greatest victory ever to be won was finished. Jesus had risen from the grave after an agonizing death on the cross. The victory celebration was awaiting Him. How He loved the Father and longed to see His face. Yet, with all that He tarried for a moment to give hope to Mary. Her agony touched Him with so much compassion. He would then go to the Father before He appeared again to the apostles. But I also, like Jesus, want to tarry here for a moment and look at the rest of the words He spoke to Mary Magdalene. “Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God” (John 20:17)
Mary Magdalene had just called Jesus, Master. He is our master; yet, Jesus wanted her to realize that because of His death and resurrection—He is so much more!! Now, “Mary go tell my brothers and sisters, I go to my Father and because I go victorious to my Father—He is your Father as well. God the creator of the Universe, the GREAT I AM is Your God and Your Father.” Mary, get up from your weeping and go tell them the good news. He would return in the evening after seeing the Father to anoint the apostles with a special anointing of the Holy Spirit by breathing into them life—eternal life. He would endow them with special powers even before the day of Pentecost. But here we are given a gift that is so much more than our hearts can fully understand!!
ABBA FATHER
“ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8)
JOINT HEIRS WITH JESUS
When we accept Christ as our Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to indwell us—He reminds us that we are joint heirs with Christ. Jesus wants to share with us His Love, His Joy, His hope, His Glory and all of His inheritance. This is not an equal sharing, I bring my wealth and He brings His so that together we have more. NO! This is me arriving with torn rags. I am the hungry, thirsty pauper whom the King of Kings divides all His wealth to declare me a Princess in the Kingdom of Heaven. WOW!! He lavishes me with His love, His Joy and His Grace.
TO SHARE IN HIS GLORY
The truth is God does not need me to spread His Gospel truth; but, He has given me that privilege so that I might share in His Glory. Think about it!! That is what He did for Mary Magdalene. “Mary, I know your heart is broken. I know you are in agony. But I am alive, I will be going to sit at the right hand of my Father where I will make intercession for you, every moment of your life. There may be moments of pain, sorrow; but, be of Good Cheer. I have overcome death. I have won the victory. Because I go, God is your FATHER, as He is mine. I paid for your adoption with my life. I won’t take you with me yet; because, I have a mission for you. Go, tell the others, I AM ALIVE and because I live you will live also.”
A MISSION FOR YOU AND ME
There are tragedies that we may face on this earth. There are sorrows that may come that cause our hearts to shatter at times; but, this is true. My Father loves me and has a perfect plan for my life. All of the sorrows, struggles or trials I have faced or will face are for two purposes.
1. That I might come to know His heart of love deeper and more fully. As I seek His Face, realize His Glorious Beauty; He becomes my greatest treasure and my greatest Joy.
2. My pain has a purpose. I live in a broken and dark world. How can the light of God’s Glory which is in me shine forth as a beam of hope to a dark world unless there are a few cracks to allow the light to shine out through?
CONCLUDING THOUGHTS
My joy, my hope is anchored secure in heaven. For that reason, I always remember: 1. My life on earth is but a split second compared to eternity where I will be forever in His presence. The pains of childbirth are quickly forgotten when the joy of holding that baby in your arms. It is kind of like that. This worlds trials are brief—even if they last a lifetime compared to the joy that will be mine. 2. There is no sorrow too great to bear for the salvation of one soul. 3. God is my joy, my hope and my loving Father; because, of Christ’s Sacrifice—so what have I to worry or fear?
