How to Avoid a Weary Heart When Serving Others

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

Life at times can cause us to feel a weariness of heart and spirit, a sadness that runs deep within our heart and soul. Our body aches with a fatigue that is much deeper than we could imagine. We press forward, striving to be noticed, to be loved and to be appreciated by those around us. It is for that reason, I wanted to delve into the emotional stumbling blocks that we may face in our life. During the last post, I began to explore some of the root causes of weariness of heart and spirit by pointing out that often this emotional fatigue comes as a result of our expectations. In the last post I began with our own expectations of ourselves. Today, I want to explore our expectations from others whom we serve and then Friday I want to discuss our expectations of God. Often, we falter or feel utterly dismayed because our expectations are not met; yet, it is our expectations that are faulty and need to be realigned. How to Overcome Weariness of Heart and Spirit

Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God. Psalm 69:1-3

There is a weariness of heart and spirit that we may face at times in our life. That weariness and fatigue can lead toward a paralyzing depression if we cannot discover it’s source and find it’s remedy. So often we try to hide the weariness from the rest of the world, never wanting them to know. We run after entertainment, relationships, alcohol, and drugs to numb the pain. Yet, in the darkness of night, the weariness is still there. Sometimes, our bodies are too fatigued as we battle some chronic illness or we face the agony of losing someone we love. The sorrow digs deep within our soul. We agonize over our own frailty and sin at times. I do not know what sorrow, worry or despair may be rising up to drown your soul. Over a lifetime, I have found myself at times drowning in my own tears. For that reason, I want to reach out a hand of hope to you today as I begin a new series concerning the emotional turmoil we face on this journey called life. 7 Powerful Truths That Will Change Your Life

“My lord, what shall be the end of these things? And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand. Daniel 12:8-10 NKJV

As we studied the book of Daniel, we have learned some very powerful truths that are relevant for you and for me today. These truths can transform your life!! They apply to every detail and every part of our life. When we understand the truth and write it upon our own hearts, we are able to see the world from a different vantage point. We are able to see trials, tribulations, and challenges as opportunities rather than roadblocks. We are able to focus upon the Joy before us; rather than get bogged down in the sorrows of today. That ember of joy, hope, and faith never goes out when we understand these 7 powerful truths. Continue reading “7 Powerful Truths That Will Change Your Life”

How to Shine Like the Stars in the World

They that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. Daniel 12:3

There will come a day when all this world as we now know it will come to an end. We do not know when. We are in the scripture given clues to that end. Just as certain as the prophecy of Daniel 11:1-35 were fulfilled; so shall the verses 36 onward be fulfilled.

the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. Daniel 11:36

Out of all the conflict within the middle east, there will arise a King who will be appointed. He will rise to power over all the earth with the promise of peace and prosperity. His alliance and power will extend throughout the world including with Israel for a time. He will come at a time when people are so longing for resolution and peace that quickly they will follow. He will magnify himself above God and will bring prosperity and peace for a time.

I do believe in the pre-tribulation rapture of the church (all those who believe in Christ will be removed before the final 7 years of Daniel’s prophecy in Daniel 9). That final 7 years will be with 3 ½ being with the newly appointed King bringing peace and prosperity to the world. There will be some on earth who will see the events, remember scripture and then be saved during the tribulation. For certain, we are told of the 144,000 Jews who will realize the truth, their eyes will be opened and they will be saved during that time. (Revelation 4:7). The final chapter of the book of Daniel eludes to this truth as well when Daniel is told that during this time Michael the archangel will protect those whose names are written in the book. Also, Daniel is told to seal the book and in the end times some would understand.

Can Suffering in This World Be Really a Blessing?

“Those who are wise will instruct many, though for a time they will fall by the sword or be burned or captured or plundered. When they fall, they will receive a little help, and many who are not sincere will join them. Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time. Daniel 11:33-35 (NIV)

Trials, tribulations, turmoil all seem a part of life. Those who teach the gospel throughout the world are certainly not exempt from this. Indeed, there are many places in the world where worshipping Jesus Christ may result in torture, death, and loss of everything this earth offers. This is not new to our generation. This has been the story throughout the ages as God drew to Himself a people who would worship Him, a people to be His own. Our journey through a world broken and ravaged by pride, self-exaltation, and all the sins of a humanity where each person desires to be “god” in their own life; certainly will be filled with trials. Particularly, those trials will be greater for those who seek after God. The humble servant’s heart that would serve God in a sense goes completely against human nature. It is no wonder that the message of Salvation by Grace Alone is a message hated by pride filled men and women.
