Are there undeniable proofs that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah and what does that matter to us today? P the argument presented by Luke. How? As a physician, Luke was meticulous in his observations. Furthermore, he studied every detail of the Old Testament Prophecy, demonstrating it’s perfect fulfillment in Jesus. As an astute investigative reporter with accuracy and truth his goal, he gathered the information from all the eyewitnesses. Skilled in conveying information, he wrote in a highly organized manner. So, as we embark on this study of the Gospel According to Luke, let us open our eyes and hearts to see the magnificent truth of Jesus Christ, the fulfillment of all the Old Testament Prophecies, confirming God’s Unfailing Plan for us and His Sovereignty over all: yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Since [as is well known] many have undertaken to compile an orderly account of the things which have been fulfilled among us [by God], 2 exactly as they were handed down to us by those [with personal experience] who from the beginning [of Christ’s ministry] were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word [that is, of the teaching concerning salvation through faith in Christ], 3 it seemed fitting for [a]me as well, [and so I have decided] after having carefully searched out and investigated all the events accurately, from the very beginning, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus; 4 so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been [b]taught [that is, the history and doctrine of the faith] (Luke 1:1-4 Amplified[1]).
Jesus is the Christ
To know the Exact truth, undeniably certain: Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah who reigns supreme over all the earth. He is God Almighty who was, who is and who is to come. Eternal Sovereign God came to earth to die, purchasing our salvation! That we who are spiritually dead in our sins may have eternal life in Him, with Him forever to gaze upon His Glory.
Luke wrote with purpose, that all might know this undeniable truth. Not only because of what Jesus said or did; but how that fulfilled prophecy. No other religion can claim that truth. No wonder the secular humanists want to erase history, for within it lies all the truths of God’s Sovereignty and reign over the earth. Because of that undeniable truth, Jesus is the Christ; we can live our life without fear. Our life overflowing with hope and purpose, looking forward to the moment of His return to earth. Our bridegroom has gone away to prepare a place for us. The moment His Father says, “Go get your bride, He is returning for us in an instant in the flash of an eye. Are you ready? Do you genuinely believe that? If so, then what on this earth could ever bring you down.
Prophecy confirms Jesus is the Christ
The bible overflows with prophecy, rich prophecy—80% fulfilled already exactly as foretold. That fact should give us hope and joy, God has never abandoned His original plan to save all who accept His gift of salvation. He has orchestrated every detail of history, wooing humanity to believe in and trust Him. Everything so that He might present a spotless, beautiful bride (the church to His Son). The most wondrous love story ever told! He gives us loves here on earth, that we might glimpse at the truth of His love (regardless of how imperfect we are in loving, we get a glimpse).
Jesus is the Christ, the messiah foretold of in Old Testament Scripture. He is the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus is the Christ, our redeemer, and our cloak of righteousness. Covered by the blood of Christ, we are free from all condemnation, because He paid our price in full. We can rest in Him. But that does not mean we live wanton lives with no worry. Why? Because, if you know Him-really know Jesus is the Christ, then your love for Him will cause you to desire to please Him.

“Fulfilled Prophecy: Evidence for the Reliability of the Bible”[2]
Unique among all books ever written, the Bible accurately foretells specific events-in detail-many years, sometimes centuries, before they occur. Approximately 2,500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible, about 2,000 of which already have been fulfilled to the letter—no errors.
(The remaining 500 or so reach into the future and may be seen unfolding as days go by.) Since the probability for any one of these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance averages less than one in ten (figured very conservatively) and since the prophecies are for the most part independent of one another, the odds for all these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance without error is less than one in 102000 (that is 1 with 2,000 zeros written after it)!
A Few Examples
(1) Some time before 500 BC, the prophet Daniel proclaimed that Israel’s long-awaited Messiah would begin his public ministry 483 years after the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem (Daniel 9:25-26). He further predicted that the Messiah would be “cut off,” killed, and that this event would take place prior to a second destruction of Jerusalem. Abundant documentation shows that these prophecies were perfectly fulfilled in the life (and crucifixion) of Jesus Christ.
The decree regarding the restoration of Jerusalem was issued by Persia’s King Artaxerxes to the Hebrew priest Ezra in 458 BC, 483 years later the ministry of Jesus Christ began in Galilee. (Remember that due to calendar changes, the date for the start of Christ’s ministry is set by most historians at about AD 26. Also note that from 1 BC to AD 1 is just one year.) Jesus’ crucifixion occurred only a few years later, and about four decades later, in AD 70 came the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus.
(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 105.)*
(2) In approximately 700 BC, the prophet Micah named the tiny village of Bethlehem as the birthplace of Israel’s Messiah (Micah 5:2). The fulfillment of this prophecy in the birth of Christ is one of the most widely known and widely celebrated facts in history.
(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 105.)
AND MORE
(3) In the fifth century BC, a prophet named Zechariah declared that the Messiah would be betrayed for the price of a slave—thirty pieces of silver, according to Jewish law-and also that this money would be used to buy a burial ground for Jerusalem’s poor foreigners (Zechariah 11:12-13). Bible writers and secular historians both record thirty pieces of silver as the sum paid to Judas Iscariot for betraying Jesus, and they indicate that the money went to purchase a “potter’s field,” used—just as predicted—for the burial of poor aliens (Matthew 27:3-10).
(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1011.)
(4) Some 400 years before crucifixion was invented, both Israel’s King David and the prophet Zechariah described the Messiah’s death in words that perfectly depict that mode of execution. Further, they said that the body would be pierced and that none of the bones would be broken, contrary to customary procedure in cases of crucifixion (Psalm 22 and 34:20; Zechariah 12:10). Again, historians and New Testament writers confirm the fulfillment: Jesus of Nazareth died on a Roman cross, and his extraordinarily quick death eliminated the need for the usual breaking of bones. A spear was thrust into his side to verify that he was, indeed, dead.
(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1013.)
IMPOSSIBLE ODDS
(8) The prophet Moses foretold (with some additions by Jeremiah and Jesus) that the ancient Jewish nation would be conquered twice and that the people would be carried off as slaves each time, first by the Babylonians (for a period of 70 years), and then by a fourth world kingdom (which we know as Rome). The second conqueror, Moses said, would take the Jews captive to Egypt in ships, selling them or giving them away as slaves to all parts of the world.
Both of these predictions were fulfilled to the letter, the first in 607 BC and the second in AD 70. God’s spokesmen said, further, that the Jews would remain scattered throughout the entire world for many generations, but without becoming assimilated by the peoples or of other nations, and that the Jews would one day return to the land of Palestine to re-establish for a second time their nation (Deuteronomy 29; Isaiah 11:11-13; Jeremiah 25:11; Hosea 3:4-5 and Luke 21:23-24).
This prophetic statement sweeps across 3,500 years of history to its complete fulfillment—in our lifetime.
(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1020.)
and
(5) The prophet Isaiah foretold that a conqueror named Cyrus would destroy seemingly impregnable Babylon and subdue Egypt along with most of the rest of the known world. This same man, said Isaiah, would decide to let the Jewish exiles in his territory go free without any payment of ransom (Isaiah 44:28; 45:1; and 45:13). Isaiah made this prophecy 150 years before Cyrus was born, 180 years before Cyrus performed any of these feats (and he did, eventually, perform them all), and 80 years before the Jews were taken into exile.
(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1015.)

The Gospel of Luke
It is with this certainty that Luke presented his gospel declaring Jesus is the Christ. He began declaring these words, “ it seemed good to me also, having [b]had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus, 4 that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed.” (Luke 1:3-4, NKJV)[3]
Even without all the “historical proof. There is one proof, I cannot deny. The Holy Spirit indwells me and daily reminds me whose I am. Then there are the moments in the middle of the night. Suddenly I awaken and hear a soft melody of music in my heart. His presence soothing me all the way.
Why so important to know Jesus is Christ?
Well, first and foremost it is important to know because He is the only way of salvation. Secondly, we can rest assured that since God perfectly fulfilled over 2000 prophecies exactly as presented. We can be certain that He also will fulfill the rest as well. Every promise is YES in Jesus. We are the body and bride of Christ. So as we study Luke, lets look back over history. And then with great anticipation look to the future we have in Christ.
