Thy Mercy, O LORD, held me up

Psalm 94:

18 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up.

19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

Such a beautiful verse. When my foot slippeth, thy mercy, O Lord, held me up. It is even more significant when you look at the verses that proceed it. These two sentences come in the center of scripture which have just described man’s dilemma and God’s right for vengence against such perverse and vain hearts as are within man. Yet, this same just and righteous judge who by all rights should condemn every one of us–provided a means of mercy. Because of that salvation which God has freely given unto me through such a grave cost to Himself; when I begin to slip (as I do) I only need to cry out and His Mercy will hold me up. No matter how tumultuous are the thoughts whirling within my brain, He stretches forth to delight my soul with His comforting words so gently whispered. He draws me ever closer by His resounding love and mercy; therefore, I see His Glory shining through and know without a doubt that He is my greatest treasure.
