Over the past few weeks, I presented the case for finding our place in this Universe by first understanding this truth: God IS. The core fiber of our faith begins there; however, it does not end there; because as clearly stated in Hebrews 11: 6 “he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him”. So, it begins with knowing God IS Sovereign Lord, the Being that brings existence into our nothingness: filled with righteousness, justice, and love. Beyond that, we have His promise that “all things work together for our good” (Romans 8:28). The entire word of God details God’s promises of love, protection, provision, and fulfillment of joy in us and for us. Every trial we face guides us to know Him who IS the Powerful Promise of Hope for you and for me.
Jesus is our great shepherd providing for our every need who lovingly, willingly died and was resurrected from the dead to secure eternal life for us (John 10). Furthermore, He IS the one who holds our position in Him.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one. John 10:27-30
Having accepted Christ as my Savior, He holds me secure; and, not even I can wander so far; but, that my Lord and Master will draw me back into His arms of love.
Powerful Promise of Love
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39
No trial, no circumstance and no one can separate us from the love of Christ Jesus. God, the Sovereign Creator and Lord of this Universe; has given to all who will receive His Gift of Salvation this promise for all of eternity. Once you and I understand the truth that God IS; then, we can believe His Powerful Promises of Hope. When I fully KNOW this truth, how could I ever doubt or worry again, no matter what storm I face?
POWERFUL PROMISE OF JOY
As Jesus was heading toward the garden of Gethsemane and nearing the time that he was to suffer upon the cross, he prayed this: ” And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves” (John 17:13).
Even before this prayer, Jesus had told His disciples, “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”(John 15:11)
This is not some frivolous, fly by night joy; it is a steadfast, bubbling fountain of joy deep within our souls; because of the Holy Spirit abiding in us. For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17). But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance (Galatians 5:22-23).
POWERFUL PROMISE OF HOPE
So, how do I hold fast to the powerful promise of hope? All, I do is believe. Then, the God of hope does the rest. He, step by step; displays more glimpses of His Glory to me. Because He IS, I never face the storms alone. I can trust His plan to be that which is best for me. He IS the God of all hope, joy, love, and He loves me. That is all I need to know to face any trial or circumstance that comes my way.
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Romans 15:13
