Do You Really Know God as Omnipotent, Omniscient Lord?

Omnipotent, Omniscient Lord

The king of Syria plotted to take over Israel.  Each time his secret war plans were thwarted. The king of Israel knew ahead of time what the king of Syria planned.  “Certainly, there must be a spy within our own ranks”, thought the king of Syria.  So, he called together all his men; but they told him that it was God’s prophet Elisha who revealed each war plan to the king of Israel.  Indeed, when the king of Syria questioned his captains, “Will you not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?” (2Kings 6:11).  They replied, “None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet which is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom” (2 Kings 6:12).  How could that be?    Because God is Omnipotent, Omniscient Lord over all!  Do You Really Know God as such?

There is no detail of your life or mine that God is not aware of.  David said, O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.  For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether (Psalm 139:1-4).  He knows my heart.  Every hidden crevice He sees. Furthermore, He knows every blundering word that might proceed from my lips before they are spoken; yet, He loved me, chose me to be His child and determined that He would use every circumstance of my life to transform me into the image of His Son.  Continuously He is about the work of perfecting me in love.  Did you ever think about that?

Omnipotent, Omniscient Lord

Because He is my Omnipotent, Omniscient Lord, I can trust Him no matter what surrounds me.  I can see beyond the immediate and know He is Sovereign and what He wants for me is His best.  Much like Elisha we must be able to see beyond the appearance to see the truth of God as our Omnipotent, Omniscient Lord whose army of hosts surround us to protect us.  His very Spirit within us to guide us every step of the way.

The king of Syria sent forth his men to find Elisha.  When they found him, the king sent “thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night and compassed the city about” (2 Kings 6:14).  Elisha’s servant saw that they were surrounded and fearfully told Elisha of their predicament.  But Elisha reassured his frightened servant, saying “Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.  The Lord opened the eyes of the young man. He saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha (2 Kings 6:16-17).

As the men approached to capture Elisha, he prayed that they be blinded.  When blinded, he was able to lead them to Samaria telling them they would surely find the prophet there.  They never realized that it was he who lead them to the king of Israel where they could be held captive. He prayed and their sight was restored. They knew they were captured. However, though the king of Israel wanted to hold them captive; Elisha said prepare them a feast, feed them and send them back home to Syria.  So, he did.

Whatever the Trial

Whatever the trial you face today, look up!  If you know Jesus Christ as your Savior, there is a mountain full of horses and chariots of fire round about you to protect you from the enemy’s attack.  As Omnipotent, Omniscient Lord, God will take all the evil that Satan or Man may try to attack you with and turn it for your good.  He will even take all your misspoken words, your failures, and your sins when you lay them at the cross, wash them in the blood of Christ and use them for good as well.  He has promised “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son” (Romans 8:28-29).

So, the only question remains.  Do You Really Know God as Omnipotent, Omniscient Lord?  If so, do not fear for God will protect, guide you, and bring you forth.  His love is greater than you can imagine, and He wants you to know Him.  He wants your eyes to be opened wide that you might see His Glory, His Joy, and live in His Victory.
