Abba, Father

John 1: 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Galatians 4:5-7

King James Version (KJV)

5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Romans 8:  14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

So many want to teach or believe that all who are born into this world are God’s Children; but it is not by the will of man that we may be adopted.  Nor is it by "the will of our flesh" –it cannot be by our own good merit or works. Nor is by human birth (not of blood).  The "Word" was made flesh–Christ the only true word of the Gospel came to this earth to pay the price for our adoption–to pay the penalty that a just, righteous judge would require. The sheer fact that we would think that there is anything that we (the creation) could do to procure our relationship with the Creator of heaven and earth presents itself as such a blasphemy.   We are such a foolish people who think way too much of ourselves when we cannot keep even the first commandment.  Deuteronomy 6:5

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might..   Do we love with Lord with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our might?  We, who desire that everything goes our way, we, who pout whenever we don’t get our way.  Yet, despite all that, God reaches out to provide the way so that we can be adopted as His children–to be heirs and joint-heirs with Christ.  He wants to share with His Children that joy, that love, and that Glory with which is clothed His Son.  Our part in this great adoption?  Our only part is to believe on Jesus Christ.  One step so simple and yet so complex.  To believe is more than just words, it is to believe with all your heart, your spirit and soul.  It means laying aside all other vain attempts of our humanity and to humbly accept Him as the only way.  It means to desire Him (the Giver) above all other treasures.  It means accepting Him as our Heavenly Father through accepting the Salvation purchased by His Son.
