When it might appear that all is lost in the world surrounding you there are two words of True Hope and Joy: God IS. He is eternally Sovereign, Righteous, Just, Merciful, and in total control. He who created the Universe and all that is in it, never sleeps or slumbers. Although, we in our finite view of all things believe we know what is best or dare to say that He is failing us. Watching the divisions around the world and in our country, we could lose heart if it we did not remember God is in Control and He does all that is good and right. He will accomplish all that He has planned.
Whether we fully understand it how He is doing it, we can trust Him. The Bible is rich and full of prophecies given and prophecies fulfilled. No other faith or religion can claim that truth. Written by multiple prophets over centuries of time with limited access to each other’s works, each filled in pieces to the prophecy to make them complete. Then history itself proved them to be true.
Because there is no way for humans to experience the magnificent Glory of all God’s attributes without their having the freedom to choose light over darkness, God allowed us choice. Unfortunately, that also means we can choose darkness and evil which is all too often what people do choose. For that reason, throughout the history of humanity, God has at times had to destroy cities, nations, and even the world to save the remnant. Evil would otherwise totally overtake and destroy the true believers, His chosen few whom He knew from eternity past would bow before Him. It is not mine to fully understand how both are equally true but they are.
God is Justice and Righteousness
“Listen to Me, My people;
And give ear to Me, O My nation:
For law will proceed from Me,
And I will make My justice rest
As a light of the peoples.
5 My righteousness is near,
My salvation has gone forth,
And My arms will judge the peoples;
The coastlands will wait upon Me,
And on My arm they will trust.
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
And look on the earth beneath.
For the heavens will vanish away like smoke,
The earth will grow old like a garment,
And those who dwell in it will die in like manner;
But My salvation will be forever,
And My righteousness will not be [b]abolished.
7 “Listen to Me, you who know righteousness,
You people in whose heart is My law:
Do not fear the reproach of men,
Nor be afraid of their insults.
8 For the moth will eat them up like a garment,
And the worm will eat them like wool;
But My righteousness will be forever,
And My salvation from generation to generation.”
9 Awake, awake, put on strength,
O arm of the Lord!
Awake as in the ancient days,
In the generations of old.
Are You not the arm that cut Rahab apart,
And wounded the serpent?
Our Nation Stands Ready to be Judged
Those who framed the United States Constitution understood something of fundamental importance that ought to be said far more at this present juncture than it is said by anyone, and it is this; they understood that that constitution was only suitable and sustainable for what they referred to as “a religious people.” What they meant by “a religious people” was a people who believed that they were created by God; their lives were sustained by God; he watched over their coming and their going; ..established the bounds of their habitation; he was the one who gave life, and he was the one who ushered in death.
In other words, their entire existence was framed—no matter how well-versed they were in the nuances of Biblical theology—the framers of the Constitution realized, “The only way this thing will work, and continue to work, is as long as God is central to the events. As soon as he is removed, the thing will disintegrate.” That was what they said.
John Adams: “We have no Government armed with [the] Power [which is] capable of contending with human Passions unbridled by … morality and Religion. … Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate [for] the government of any other.” In that same quote, he said what the problem will be is “Avarice,” or greed, “Ambition, … Revenge,” or, he said, even “Galantry.” These things “would break the strongest Cords of our Constitution as a Whale goes through a Net.”[1] Now, that’s impossible to misunderstand, isn’t it?[2]
And Now?
We, as a nation have turned away from God and deserve His wrath. Nothing proves that more than the platforms of this election with one side pro-abortion, anti-law and order, with a “woke” that desires to erase history, truth, conservative thoughts, and Christianity. Yet, those ideas invade more than half of our society including some who falsely proclaim themselves Christian. How sad! Would it not be God’s justice to give them what they want and see how quickly this nation destroys itself and falls to the wayside as every other great nation in history. How the mighty have fallen!
But we, who truly know Christ also know this world and nation are not our destiny. We merely are journeying here for the moment.
Isaiah 52
Awake, awake!
Put on your strength, O Zion;
Put on your beautiful garments,
O Jerusalem, the holy city!
For the uncircumcised and the unclean
Shall no longer come to you.
2 Shake yourself from the dust, arise;
Sit down, O Jerusalem!
Loose yourself from the bonds of your neck,
O captive daughter of Zion!
3 For thus says the Lord:
“You have sold yourselves for nothing,
And you shall be redeemed without money.”
Isaiah 52
13 Behold, My Servant shall [d]deal prudently;
He shall be exalted and [e]extolled and be very high.
14 Just as many were astonished at you,
So His visage[f] was marred more than any man,
And His form more than the sons of men;
15 So shall He [g]sprinkle many nations.
Kings shall shut their mouths at Him;
For what had not been told them they shall see,
And what they had not heard they shall consider.
God IS in control—Jesus Came Just as Foretold
Isaiah 53
Who has believed our report?
And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,
And as a root out of dry ground.
He has no [a]form or [b]comeliness;
And when we see Him,
There is no [c]beauty that we should desire Him.
3 He is despised and [d]rejected by men,
A Man of [e]sorrows and acquainted with [f]grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
4 Surely He has borne our [g]griefs
And carried our [h]sorrows;
Yet we [i]esteemed Him stricken,
[j]Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded[k] for our transgressions,
He was [l]bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes[m] we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord [n]has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.
Jesus Gave His life Willingly, Evil did not win, Jesus won the Victory
Isaiah 53
8 He was taken from [o]prison and from judgment,
And who will declare His generation?
For He was cut off from the land of the living;
For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.
9 And [p]they made His grave with the wicked—
But with the rich at His death,
Because He had done no violence,
Nor was any deceit in His mouth.
10 Yet, it pleased the Lord to [q]bruise Him;
He has put Him to grief.
When You make His soul an offering for sin,
He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,
And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.
11 [r]He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied.
By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many,
For He shall bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore, I will divide Him a portion with the great,
And He shall divide the [s]spoil with the strong,
Because He poured out His soul unto death,
And He was numbered with the transgressors,
He bore the sin of many,
And made intercession for the transgressors.
Concluding thoughts
Therefore, whatever happens with this nation and this election, God is in control. He has not abandoned His people or fallen deaf to their pleas. He is eternal, Sovereign and all that He plans He will accomplish. Therefore, we trust Him. What if it is time, He must purge all this nation, that His remnant remains because evil abounds throughout the hearts of men and women, now. He knows that if He does not purge the evil, it will pervade everything and destroy everything. We who know Him can rest assured with hope and Joy because we know God IS. He is on His throne and will return one day to take us home.
