What is all you need to know? God IS!

In a world so filled with questions, chaos, confusion, and sorrows; what is ALL you need to know? God IS! He is Sovereign, on His throne. God is just, righteous, all mighty and He never sleeps. We may not understand all that is happening; but we can trust Him.

²This is what the Lord, the one who made you, says—
the one who formed you in the womb and helps you:
“Don’t be afraid……⁶This is what…the Lord of Heaven’s Armies (says)
“I am the first and I am the last,
there is no God but me.
⁷Who is like me? Let him make his claim!^[^h^]
Let him announce it and explain it to me—
since I established an ancient people^[i]—
let them announce future events.^[^j^]

⁸Don’t panic! Don’t be afraid!^[^k^]
Did I not tell you beforehand and decree it?
You are my witnesses! Is there any God but me?
There is no other sheltering rock;^[^l^] I know of none.
⁹All who form idols are nothing;
the things in which they delight are worthless.
Their witnesses cannot see;
they recognize nothing, so they are put to shame. (Isaiah 44:2,6-9 NET)

God IS and there is no other. All the idols that we place before Him are useless. Money, Pleasure, Power, Sex, Government, nor Self-reliance are powerless to bring peace, hope or joy. God IS the only one on whom we can really rely to find joy, hope, peace, and love.

How Can I Know GOD IS Sovereign?

The book of Isaiah is so rich in proofs of God’s Sovereignty and rich in promises yet to come. Promises on which we can cling and be filled with hope everlasting. That hope fills our hearts with joy and peace regardless of all the noise surrounding us today.

Isaiah warned the people that due to their persistence in sin, they would be overthrown by the Babylonians. They also were told of Cyrus, the Mede-Persian King whom God would use to set them free again. This nearly 200 years before Cyrus was ever born.

“This is what the Lord says to his chosen one,^[a]

to Cyrus, whose right hand I hold^[b]
in order to subdue nations before him,
and disarm kings,^[c]
to open doors before him,
so gates remain unclosed:

²‘I will go before you
and level mountains.^[d]
Bronze doors I will shatter
and iron bars^[e] I will hack through.
³I will give you hidden treasures,^[f]
riches stashed away in secret places,
so you may recognize that I am the Lord,
the one who calls you by name, the God of Israel.
⁴For the sake of my servant Jacob,
Israel, my chosen one,
I call you by name
and give you a title of respect, even though you do not submit^[g] to me (Isaiah 45:1-4).

Fulfillment—Proof God is.

God even foretold of how Cyrus would enter in through the doors into a city that seemed secure; while the Babylonian King lay drunken, disarmed in a festival. A festival by the way in which God sent a message written on the wall, saying, “And this is the writing that was written, Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin. ²⁶This is the interpretation of the thing: Mene; God hath numbered thy kingdom and finished it.²⁷Tekel; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. ²⁸Peres; Thy kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians” (Daniel 5).

God spoke and God performed. That night the King of Babylon was killed and the kingdom taken over by the Mede/Persian army. God had foretold of this nearly 200 years before it happened. Both by Isaiah and by Jeremiah.

All that happens, God is shining forth His Glory to show us who He is.

I am the Lord, and there is no other;
There is no God besides Me.
I will gird you, though you have not known Me,
⁶That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting
That there is none besides Me.
I am the Lord, and there is no other;
⁷I form the light and create darkness,
I make peace and create calamity;
I, the Lord, do all these things.’

⁸“Rain down, you heavens, from above,
And let the skies pour down righteousness;
Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation,
And let righteousness spring up together.
I, the Lord, have created it. Isaiah 45:NKJV

GOD IS Righteousness and Justice

One who argues with his Creator is in grave danger,^[u]
one who is like a mere^[v] shard among the other shards on the ground!
The clay should not say to the potter,^[w]
“What in the world^[x] are you doing?
Your work lacks skill!”^….
¹¹This is what the Lord says,
the Holy One of Israel,^[ac] the one who formed him,
concerning things to come:^[ad]
“How dare you question me^[ae] about my children!
How dare you tell me what to do with^[af] the work of my own hands!

¹²I made the earth;
I created the people who live^[ag] on it.
It was me—my hands^[ah] stretched out the sky.^[ai]
I give orders to all the heavenly lights.^[aj]
¹³It is me—I stir him up and commission him;^[ak]
I will make all his ways level.
He will rebuild my city;
he will send my exiled people home,
but not for a price or a bribe,”
says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Isaiah 45 (NET)

How can I know God is ALL I Need?

He has said it and it will be done.

For thus says the Lord,
Who created the heavens,
(He) Who is God,
Who formed the earth and made it,
(AND) Who has established it,
Who did not create it ^[e]in vain,
(Rather) Who formed it to be inhabited:
“I am the Lord, and there is no other.
¹⁹I have not spoken in secret,
In a dark place of the earth;
I did not say to the seed of Jacob,
‘Seek Me ^[f]in vain’;
I, the Lord, speak righteousness,
I declare things that are right.

²⁰“Assemble yourselves and come;
Draw near together,
You who have escaped from the nations.
They have no knowledge,
Who carry the wood of their carved image,
And pray to a god that cannot save.
²¹Tell and bring forth your case;
Yes, let them take counsel together.
Who has declared this from ancient time?
Who has told it from that time?
Have not I, the Lord?
And there is no other God besides Me,
A just God and a Savior;
There is none besides Me.

²²“Look to Me, and be saved,
All you ends of the earth!
For I am God, and there is no other.
²³I have sworn by Myself;
The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness,
And shall not return,
That to Me every knee shall bow,
Every tongue shall take an oath.
²⁴He shall say,
^[g]‘Surely in the Lord I have righteousness and strength.
To Him men shall come,
And all shall be ashamed
Who are incensed against Him.” Isaiah 45 (NKJV)

Therefore

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ²When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. ³Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

⁴One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. ⁵For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. ⁶And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord. Psalm 27
