Should A Heart Hope for Glory? If so, How?

People struggle throughout their lives often seeking to find that one moment of glory.  Some search for it in great success or power; while, others seek for it is sports or great academic success.  There are some who merely want to know it within their own hearts, believing themselves to have been the best mother or father of all.  We were made to seek Glory; whether, we fully understand that or not.  For some, it may become an obsession with pride; and yet, there is only one hope of our finding the Glory that we seek.  Because, the only hope of Glory is Christ coming to dwell within us.

Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me  mightily. Colossians 1:26-29

God created us with a desire to seek that which is glorious and beautiful.  Our hearts leap for joy at the beauty of a sunset, the sounds of music, or the feelings of love.  Often, we may find beauty in some unlikely places that others have shunned.  An act of kindness warms our heart. We realize that often “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Because of this, we desire glory; believing that in finding our moment of glory we will therein find meaning and purpose for our life.

THE MYSTERY OF TRUE GLORY

Jesus Christ is the perfection of Glory.  He is the perfect Glorious reflection of God’s beauty shone forth in His Dichotomous Nature of Grace and Justice, Righteousness and Mercy, Royalty and Servitude as well as Power and Submission.  In Christ, we find the fullness of the Glory our hearts long for.  Therein lies the greatest mystery of all: Christ in me, the hope of Glory.

THE GREATEST ACT OF GLORY IS SALVATION

The greatest display of God’s Glory is Salvation.  It is the mystery in which God can take a hardened heart of stone and transform it into vessel of Grace.  He bridges the gap of sin through the redemption that was purchased on the cross by Jesus Christ, God’s Only Begotten Son who is part of the Trinity.  At the moment of Salvation, the Holy Spirit (God’s Spirit) comes to indwell the believer.  He brings to life the relationship between God and us.  In Christ, we have redemption.  We are then declared righteous; despite our sin nature still being present.  All of this is too great of a mystery for us to fully understand here.

AN EVEN GREATER MYSTERY

Jesus as He prayed for us in route to the Garden of Gethsemane said that He gives to us His Glory.

And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. John 17:22-23

God does not need you or me to save a soul.  Yet, one of the greatest mysteries is how He graciously gives us the privilege to spread the gospel story and in us, through us brings others to Christ.  In that act, He bestows upon us a part of His Glory.  At times, it has been through my stumbling feet, He has shown another the way to Jesus Christ.  That I find, a wondrous mystery of His Grace and Mercy toward me.

CONCLUSION

Only in Christ do we truly have any hope for Glory; and, then it is His work mightily working in me to perform His Will.
