Have You Seen the Wonderful Glorious Bridegroom’s Love?
There is one more very important detail that we must look at before we leave John’s detailed account of the first miracle that Jesus performed during His earthly ministry. That is the All-providing nature of Jesus shown here. As I explained Monday, the bridegroom was responsible for making certain there was an ample supply of wine. Not even the master of the feast was responsible. This was the responsibility of the bridegroom. In this scene, the bridegroom had failed to provide. Jesus provided what the bridegroom did not and could not. There are several beautiful portraits of Jesus Christ that we can take from these scriptures.
JESUS IS THERE TO HELP FAILING BRIDEGROOMS
[bctt tweet=”Jesus stepped into the scene & with purifying water provided what the bridegroom could not.”] Do you ever feel that as a husband you have failed? Christ is there to help you. He is the only one who can fill your heart with self-less love for your wife. He can guide your every step. Scripture commands husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church, being willing to die for the church. “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself” (Ephesians 5).
JESUS PROVIDES ALL FOR HIS BRIDE
[bctt tweet=”Jesus is the all providing bridegroom for his bride.”] What a beautiful portrait of Christ as our bridegroom. His glorious love for us. He died that we might be redeemed and presented as the beautiful, spotless bride. His love is all we truly need to fill our hearts with joy everyday of our lives. Beyond redeeming us and calling us to be His own, He is day by day preparing us to look our most beautiful at the wedding feast one day. Think of that, Jesus loved me when I was wearing rags, covered in soot, unable to speak without a stammer. He has carefully nurtured, loved, taught, and provided for me everything that I need to be transformed into the most beautiful, eloquent bride one day when I stand before Him.
HAVE YOU SEEN THE WONDERFUL, GLORIOUS BRIDEGROOM’S LOVE?
Do you know Him? Have you felt the power of His love pulsing through your heart? Do you long for His presence each day? He is the perfect bridegroom who will return one day for you. “6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb” (Revelation 19). [bctt tweet=”Are you ready? Have you been bathed in the purifying blood of the lamb that was shed for you?”]
