Did you Know, Did you Know, Sweet Child So Dear

Did you know, did you know sweet child so dear
That God wants to fill your heart with cheer
Happy to be all that you are
His precious, wondrous, glorious star

Did you Know, Did you Know, Sweet Child So Dear

By Effie Darlene Barba

Why will this world not let you be

A child who laughs and loves so free

With open heart and purity

No thought of race nor desperate plea

To change one’s own identity

From solo me to he, she, it, or we

In this world, you’ll only find

Confusion clouds and fills your mind

In desperation, heart resigned

Discontent with self-undefined.

To Truth and hope, remaining blind

Because of their words so misaligned

CHORUS 1 Did you know

Did you know, did you know sweet child so dear

That God wants to fill your heart with cheer

Happy to be all that you are

His precious, wondrous, glorious star

Shining so bright, a light from above

So filled with grace, His precious love

Oh, precious child, do not explore

Changing yourself, so long before

You have your voice, Your own special roar

You are the one God made to adore

He sees your greatness long, long before

You have your wings on which to soar

So,

Just as you are and nothing more

He gives you wings on which to soar

And gives you a voice with your special roar

He is waiting for you to open the door

Letting Him in. Oh, do not ignore

He is the true love that you’re looking for

Chorus 2

Did you know, did you know sweet child so dear

That God wants to fill your heart with cheer

So, please take your time that you might grow

With strength and beauty, then you will glow

The Glory and Grace, He chose for you

His joy each day He gives anew

They say that you must choose today

Rid you of you to then make a way

There surely, really is no time to play

You must, you must, is all that they say.

Yet, be true to you and never betray

The feelings that draw you so far astray

Instead take your time, do not confuse

The wicked evil that they do use

To say today now you must choose

Or all your chances you might just lose

And be cast aside like some old recluse

Yours fears and pains are what they misuse

Chorus 3

Did you know, did you know sweet child so dear

That God wants to fill your heart with cheer

Four Kinds of love He has given you

Through each of these, His love will pursue

There is family, friends, and then one day

An erotic love may come your way

No need to rush or hurry it in

The steady and sure normally win

For when you do rush ahead to begin

Confusion presents and breaks you within

Until you can’t trust who, where or when

Even forgetting who you are then

But above all the others, the fourth love is best

It rises above surpassing the rest

Offering peace to those who are stressed

Instilling its joy for all the depressed

Providing its care to the oppressed

Changing broken into redeemed and blessed

Chorus 4.

Did you know, did you know sweet child so dear

God loves you so much and bids you draw near

To cloak you with robes, protecting your heart

His strength and His love to never depart

Overflowing in you, like a bubbling spring

Of Eternal Hope, His love makes you sing

“Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, and to take Him at His word, just to rest upon His promise and to know Thus saith the Lord-

Oh, how I love Jesus, Oh how I love Jesus, Oh how I love Jesus because He first loved me.

Concluding Thoughts

We must protect our children from all the confusion and pain, allowing them to be children before having to make decisions that can so altar their life. I remember being a child, a very sensitive child weeping for the oppressed, the hurting. I too was among them, trying to discover who I was. Were it not for God’s grace and love, I would have been drowned by the pressures around and within me. I am so grateful that I came to know Him as a young child listening to the radio sermons playing in the background every Sunday morning. The greatest gift my mother gave me was Jesus Christ.

DO YOU KNOW CHRIST AS YOUR SAVIOR AND LORD? He is our only Hope in Life and Death! Our Joy is found in Him.

A Cloud of Sadness Covered Me- A Poem

Throughout the day yesterday and awaking today, I feel a cloud of sadness covering me.  Sadness to see this land that I love so broken, so separated from God.  We that call ourselves Christians have over the past century watched in silence as our nation turned farther and farther from its Godly principles. Caught up in the prosperity of our own lives, we grew content just to live.  Forgetting that God is a just and righteous God who demands the same, because He knows that is the only path to true joy, hope and love.

Judgement must come to save the remnant, just as in the days of Judah when the Babylonians entered and destroyed the land.  God’s people must stand true, willing to die for His Truth to be known.  Just as in the days of Noah it will be in the end.  Are we there?  Is this the end of our nation?  Only God knows.  But as for me, I must stand and shout His Truth from the Mountaintops screaming, “Repent, for the day of the Lord is at hand.”

And though a cloud of sadness cover me, I will shout for joy at the Name of Jesus.  Only in Him can we find true joy, hope, love and peace.   I, like Habakkuk bow before His throne today.

Habakkuk 3

God came….His glory covered the heavens,And the earth was full of His praise. His brightness was like the light; He had rays flashing from His hand,And there His power was hidden.

Before Him went pestilence, And fever followed at His feet.He stood and measured the earth;  He looked and startled the nations.  And the everlasting mountains were scattered,  The perpetual hills bowed. His ways are everlasting….

8 Lord, were You displeased with the rivers.   Was Your anger against the rivers?   Was Your wrath against the sea?    That You rode on Your horses.  Your chariots of salvation?  Your bow was made quite ready.   Oaths were sworn over Your [b]arrows. Selah

You divided the earth with rivers.
10 The mountains saw You and trembled.
As the overflowing of the water passed by.
The deep uttered its voice,
And lifted its hands on high.
11 The sun and moon stood still in their habitation;
At the light of Your arrows they went,
At the shining of Your glittering spear.

Judgement must come

12 You marched through the land in indignation;
You [c]trampled the nations in anger.
13 You went forth for the salvation of Your people,
For salvation with Your Anointed.
You struck the head from the house of the wicked,
By laying bare from foundation to neck. Selah

14 You thrust through with his own arrows
The head of his villages.
They came out like a whirlwind to scatter me;
Their rejoicing was like feasting on the poor in secret.
15 You walked through the sea with Your horses,
Through the heap of great waters.

16 When I heard, my body trembled;
My lips quivered at the voice;
Rottenness entered my bones;
And I trembled in myself,
That I might rest in the day of trouble.
When he comes up to the people,
He will invade them with his troops.

A Hymn of Faith-When the Cloud of Sadness Covered Me

17 Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls—
18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.

19 [d]The Lord God is my strength;
He will make my feet like deer’s feet,
And He will make me walk on my high hills.

And so it is I wrote today this poem:

A Cloud of Sadness Covered Me

A Cloud of Sadness covered me

As my heart broke. How could this be?

That no one heard their cries, their plea

To give them life and liberty?

These babies sacrificed you see

On Altars of sex, depravity.

I fell to weep down on my knees

To Ask You Lord to hear my pleas.

I recall a nation built by You

Deny You Lord and lose their view

Of all that matters or that’s true

How can it be so very few

Would stand upon Your Solid Rock

Instead the Gospel truth they mock

They pushed You God out of the schools

Nor even teach the Golden rules

Instead they teach our youth to be

A Pride filled “woke” society

Who do not care what’s right or wrong

Joined tight by hate their evil throng

They twist the truth ‘til all believe

The only good is to receive

With heardened hearts and blinded eye

They speak of love and apple pie

Then loot and riot every day

A tantrum bent to get their way

They think their life is all their own

And never bow before Your throne

Destroying all that’s history

Ignoring truth as mystery

So, now Your judgement, it must fall

Awaken Lord, awaken all

My heart is broken, as I pray

I do not know just what to say

Repentant Lord for my own sin

Grateful for Your Grace within

I am so tired, please take me home

And yet, this land I still must roam

Until You call me home one day

I must remain, teach me to pray

Give me the strength to stay the course

And shout your praise until I’m hoarse

So, everyone I meet today

Will hear my voice, will hear me say

My God is still upon His throne

Proclaiming that His truth be known

And if today, He’ll use my voice

I’ll tell the world He is my choice

And if that means I lose my life

Because my words they stir up strife

I still will choose to speak His name

His justice, righteousness proclaim

Unto a world who will not hear

I’ll boldly go without a fear

For He is all I need today

He is the truth, the life, the way

God’s joy is all my heart doth need

As on my knees, for you I plead

I know His plan is perfect still

My body bow beneath His will

I trust Him in the brightest day

And in this darkest night I pray

That He might touch one heart today

Giving them His truth, for this I pray

Concluding Thoughts

Even when a cloud of Sadness Covers You, there is hope.  That hope is found in Jesus.  He is the one who came to pay the price for your sin.    As Christ hung there on the cross a Cloud of Sadness, dark as pitch, covered the whole earth because God turned His back away.  He poured out on His beloved son all the wrath that we deserve, so that all who would repent and believe might be saved.  What about you today?

I Am Lord, There is No Other God

I Am Lord, There is No Other God

When sorrows, chaos do Surround

And in despair your heart is drowned

Where can you turn in hope of peace

And bid your bitter tears to cease?

Although the world cast Him aside

He beckons, calls you to abide

Securely held in arms of Grace

Gazing always on His face

And so, it is He calls your name

That you might lay aside your shame

These earthly worries and your pain

Resting assured on this refrain

am the Lord, there is no God besides Me.

Creator of all that you see

So, come to me child and seek my face

I will shower you with joy and grace

For only I can fill your heart

With joy beyond all measure

My happiness I will impart

I am your greatest treasure

I have sought you with my heart of love

Before you e’er were born

And yet you make so little of

My gifts, and show me scorn

My righteousness I must uphold

For justice must be bold

I know how evil will destroy

All hope for you to know my joy

And yet, I gave you choice you see

For how else would you know?

The fullness of my Glory

How else would they show?

There is no other way for man

To know the truth of who I am

To choose the light and cast aside

The darkness where he doth abide

So now amid this sorrow, pain

When chaos on this earth doth reign

If only you would choose me now

My righteousness I would endow

On your behalf, for my dear son

Has paid your price upon the cross

So, Seek me now, I am the One

All else you seek is loss

am the Lord, there is no God besides Me.

Creator of all that you see

So, come my child and seek my face

I will shower you with joy and grace

For only I can fill your heart

With joy beyond all measure

My happiness I will impart

I am your greatest treasure

God’s Word will Forever Stand-Poem

When we look around us or even when we look within, our hearts could turn to despair, sorrow and pain were it not for this truth.  God’s Word will Forever Stand.  Throughout history, His Word has stood firm, faithful and true.  His plan was to create a people who would love Him and on whom He could pour forth His love, His joy, and His Glory.   But for that love to be complete, they must have choice.  And so, He has watched throughout the ages as men chose to leave; but His plan never has been thwarted at all.  He is Sovereignly in control and His promises will remain forever.

Just as we have been learning from Isaiah and our studies in the old Testament.  All that He has promised, He has fulfilled.  The same is true for us today who know Him and Savior and King,  God’s Word will Forever Stand.

God’s Word will Forever Stand

I hear the clamoring sounds of those

Who want their voices heard

How can I know Lord what is true?

Unless I seek Your word

The bells they toll for such as I

Whose life so minuscule

So weak and frail, beneath the veil

So often just a fool

If not for you, my Lord and King

Who reigns upon your throne

How was it that you loved me so

You called me as Your own

To be your child, redeemed I am

Though nothing I proclaim

No goodness, wealth do I possess

No power and no fame

And yet dear Lord with all my scars

The darkness in my soul

Deserving only death I am

For whom the bells should toll

Despite this truth, You loved me so

You paid the price for me

And claimed me as your precious bride

You came to set me free

Then far beyond what I could hope

You did not leave me there

Instead you promised by Your word

I am your plan so rare

How can you take me as I am

And with Yours hands of Grace

Transforming me, reflecting You

As I gaze upon Your face

To think You took my scars and pain

And yet to only see

The beauty of Your Son Divine

In all His Splendorous Glory

Oh, people stop your clamoring lies

As heard across this land

Have you not heard, have you not seen?

He will accomplish all He planned

So, stand firm upon His word of truth

Repentant for your sin

Seek Him with your heart and soul

Then healing can begin

And if His judgement fall on us

For all that we have done

This nation crumbling to abyss

For abandoning His Son

Then, let the faithful remnant sing

Their song of Joyous Praise

As on the wings of eagles

He will our spirits raise

I hear the clamoring sounds of those

Who want their voices heard

God’s righteous hand will hold me firm

Forever held, my anchor firm

Held fast by His own Word

To Mom: It Seems Like Yesterday-A Poem

Mom is 89 years old and battled bipolar all her life.  It has truly been a battle.  Yet, the one thing true and certain, God has been her fortress and her strength.  She has stood on faith throughout the years and finds Him as her greatest treasure.  She was the one who pointed me to Him.

As a Christian, I have found through the years how much He has taught me to trust Him in every storm of my own life.  Yet, although I have learned to trust His plan in my life, knowing that every tear brings with it a blessing; I find that hard when I look at my children or my mom.  Despite knowing God’s plan is perfect, I grieve when I see them suffer.  However, I know for certain God’s love for them only allows what is ultimately for their blessing as well.  He draws us closer to Him in the storms of life.

Mom has been very sick recently.  All made worse with the coronavirus shutdown, leading to loneliness and sorrow.  Despite that I must stand still and trust God in His plan for her.  Love you, Mom.  This is the poem I wrote for her on Mother’s Day.

To Mom:  It Seems Like Yesterday

It seems like only Yesterday

You watched over us as we did play

The time has flown throughout the years

With times of laughter and of tears

At times I did not understand

Yet, it has been as God planned

You always taught me to say

“He knows what’s best, so let us pray”

It was your faith that stood so strong

Teaching me In Christ I do belong

To lean on Him through each dark day

And never, ever fail to pray

Or raise our voices loud to sing

For He is Lord and He is King

At times, the laughter filled our home

And followed us wherever we roamed

There were the times of happiness

Where joy and peace brought their rest

Then, through the years as Mom and friend

You have always been there to the end

You picked me up each time I fell

And taught me in God’s Grace to dwell.

No matter what when I did stray

You would warn me harsh, but you did stay.

Right by my side to help me stand

Obedience to each command

I learned through trials I did face

While you stood near to show me grace

Your love for me unparalleled

To those I desired which were dispelled

Into the bleakest, darkest night

So far from joy, so far from sight

And when my heart broke with despair

You were the one, you were there

To pick me up, to hear my cries

And then to dry my tear stained eyes

You were there whenever I called

You came so quick and never stalled

To help me raise my children dear

You were here and always near

Throughout the years I watched your pain

Yet through it all, your faith remain!

Therefore, I want to scream unfair

You confused weak, with frightened stare

“Why, dear Lord, must Mom face this

After a life devoid of bliss

Dear God, I do not know today

The words of which I should pray

So, I must fall before thy throne

And ask that she not feel alone

That you may wrap her in your arms

Protecting her through all life’s harms

I have learned, my Lord that through the pains

The sorrows and torrential rains

You draw us nearer to your side

That in Your love we may abide

And though I may not understand

Upon Your Grace, my faith doth stand

I know that Mom is in Your Will

So, on that truth I will stand still.
