The Grace that Lifts the Fallen Just

Fountains of Wisdom—A Study in Proverbs-Part 40 Grace that lifts the fallen Just

There is only One who can lift the heart from the depth of despair and fill it with the faith to stand against every trial that we will face on this earth.  Only One who can lift us up from the pit of our own heart and only one who can give us the strength to stand with patience and gentleness of spirit.

Oh, how I need Him to fill and sustain my heart each and every day.  He is the Word of life and as such is the only true Wisdom that we search for.  In Proverbs 24 we are reminded of all the blessings found in God and thus why we must earnestly seek Him as our greatest treasure instead of searching after riches or fame.  Included in those treasures are:

1.   It is His Wise Counsel that can make a house to be a home (Proverbs 24:3) filled with understanding and the greatest treasures of His love.  This is true even if you feel you are all alone, because even then God is there with you.

2. He is our strength.  As I recognize that my body is aging and sometimes, I feel too weak to face all that lies before me; then I look up and He fills me with His strength and His might for today’s task.  (Proverbs 24:5)

3. He is our Safety.  God is our strong tower that protects us against all the evil forces that would tear us down.  (Proverbs 24: 6-9)

4. He is the beginning and the end of our Faith, as He sees the very depth of our hearts.  (Proverbs 24:10-12)  In the silent darkness of the night do you trust Him?  Do you search for Him when it would seem all is falling around you?  Are you willing to give to Him your money, your time, and your life—trusting Him to make a way in the darkness?  Have you quit trying to fix it yourself and just rest in His plan?  If your answer is—not really; then, ask Him to give you the faith you need.  Remember this also, great faith comes from great trials as you watch Him guide you through and great faith comes from reading His word which remains full of His promises.  Hence, in that darkness instead of trembling, just smile and say, “Is this my new lesson in faith?”

5. He is our sweet joy.  (Proverbs 24: 13-14)  Like the sweetness of honey which sticks and covers all it comes near, so is His Word—His Gospel is ever a  sweetness to our lips, our spirits and our soul.

6. He is our Righteousness and our Justice.  (Proverbs 24:15-16)(GNV) “15 Lay no wait, O wicked man, against the house of the righteous, and spoil not his resting place.16 For a just man[f]falleth seven times, and riseth again:”  What a wondrous truth is that He is my righteousness.  When others try to trip me or even do, He is there to pick me up.  When I in my clumsy foolish way trip and fall myself—He is there to pick me up.  No matter what, He is there to help me rise again to walk in His fullness of life.  Never does He look down from heaven with a frown that says, “I am so disappointed in you, just lie there.”  Never does He leave me in a pit of depression created by my own failures nor those that come from my taking my eyes off of Him.  Instead, when I fail and when I fall into the mud, He reaches down to take my hand.  With His gentle smile, He says, “Child, what sin?  I don’t see any.”  As He gazes at me through the redemptive blood of my Savior—He sees a Justified, Sanctified Saint because that is who He declared me to be in Christ and because of Christ.  That truth my dear friends is Amazing Grace.
